University of Sussex Hackathon
February 2026 - March 2026
Hackathon Competition
In February 2026, I participated in a Hackathon event hosted by the University of Sussex. This was a 24-hour event in which teams of students from various universities competed against each other to create innovative solutions to real-world problems. The outcome of the Hackathon was to create an innovative technologicalsolution to help the elderly, and our team decided to focus on creating a web dashboard to centralise core information. We developed a web app that allowed users to have a minimal display of with key interactive widgets, including calendar integration, email integration, and a voice and text chatbot AI assistant. The app also included a feature that allowed users to donate excess food to local charities. Our team worked tirelessly throughout the 24 hours, and we were proud to present our solution to the judges at the end of the event. Although we did not win the competition, we received positive feedback from the judges and other participants, and it was a great experience for us to collaborate and innovate together, whilst learning new skills and techniques in the process. Overall, participating in the University of Sussex Hackathon was a valuable experience that allowed me to apply my skills in a real-world setting and work with a team to create a meaningful solution to a common problem.
